So you regulars know the "old" Western Wingshooter had been pretty stagnant for a while.  We got a little burned out after filming 2 videos, hunting our asses off and also having "real" jobs.  It was time for a little break to say the least.

So Travis took a little time to go camping with his family, hit a few NASCAR races and hunt for the fun of it.  Kelly bought a motorcycle and started road racing.  All in all it was a nice little vacation...THATS OVER!

Look for some great new product reviews, waterfowling news and even a little gossip here and there.

We're getting back to the grass roots of this deal, so stay tuned!

Who we are

This website was started 9 years ago with the vision of bringing unbiased reviews of hunting gear to the average hunter.  For many years we stayed the course.  then Pro-Staff contracts, money, video sponsorships and other evils of the industry began to muddy up the waters.  The workload became more than the payoff and so things had to give.

I hope we can bring this site back to it's original intent, to give you guys the insite on what gear will work for you and what products are relativly not worth buying.  Yes we are still a little biased on what calls we use but to be honest who isnt?  There are calls out there that 1 guy can blow and sound amazing yet the next guy sounds like a wounded buffalo.  Thats just the way it is.

So with that said we hope you will stop by, look around and possibly take some knowlege away from here with you.

Coming Soon

Look for Product Reviews on the latest hunting boots and waders from Kobuk.  We have used their products for 3 seasons now and have put them to the test.

Todays Tip

You can never guarantee there will be enough cover in the field your hunting if you havent scouted well or hunted it before.  If your not using layout blinds always keep some inexpensive burlap with you to cover up with.  Make sure to drag it around in the field a little to get a little color to it.

If your using layout blinds grassing them to match the field is crucial.  Many companies make grassing kits that work well but adding some of the native grass will always help out.  Carrying some shears or a machete will make this a much easier task than pulling grass by hand.  We've run into situation where the field is cut and finding vegetation is nearly impossible.  We started packing a lawn rake in the trailer and can usually find good amounts of loose vegetation around the edge of the field.

Dont forget to mud your blinds or even hit them with some matte spraypaint to break up the color a little.
